Introducing: Woodlawn's New Endowment Scholarship
Thanks to the congregation’s generous support of the Scholarship Endowment (individual gifts, as well as memorials), the Endowment Committee announces Woodlawn United Methodist Church’s first College Scholarship. For the 2025-2026 school year, the award is $1000.
To be eligible, applicants must:
a) Be a member in good standing of Woodlawn United Methodist Church.
b) Graduate from High School by the year that the scholarship will be awarded and be accepted to an approved post-secondary educational institution, or
c) Graduated from home school by the year that the scholarship will be awarded and be accepted to an approved post-secondary educational institution, or,
d) Be a freshman, sophomore, junior, or senior (including fifth-year senior) at an approved post-secondary institution, or,
e) An adult returning to an approved post-secondary institution
f) Maintain a current grade point average of at least 2.0 on a 4.0-point scale, or higher if required by the educational institution. Proof of grade point average shall be an official transcript, report card, or other grade report with the cumulative GPA denoted thereon.
Applicants print should out the scholarship application, fill it out, and then bring the hard copy into the main office or scan it in as a PDF and email it to main@woodlawnumc.net. Applications are due by March 31, 2025.
The scholarship committee will receive blind applications for the selection of the recipient. The selection committee will give weight to the following areas:
A) Ministry-related Occupations
B) Methodist Institution
C) Financial Need
D) First family member to obtain post-secondary education
